Completion / Graduation
Students admitted in the 2008 academic year or later must check the courses restricted by their department (major). Credits earned from restricted courses will not be counted toward graduation requirements.
Graduation Requirements
Eligibility: Students who have completed the designated curriculum, passed the graduation thesis(or project), and fulfilled both English proficiency and major certification requirements.
Note: International students admitted through the Special Admissions for International Students(Korean Track) must additionally meet the Korean Language Proficiency Requirement for graduation.
Required Graduation Credits
- Entrants up to AY 2007 : 140 credits or more
- Entrants from AY 2008 to 2019 : 135 credits or more (Engineering majors: 140 credits or more)
- Entrants from AY 2020 to 2022 : 130–135 credits or more (Engineering majors: 135–140 credits or more) View Graduation Requirements by Department
- Entrants from AY 2023 onward : 130 credits or more
General Education Credits
- Entrants up to AY 2007 : Minimum 25 credits
- Entrants from AY 2008 onward : Minimum 25 credits to maximum 55 credits
- Entrants from AY 2012 onward : Minimum 30 credits to maximum 55 credits
Required General Education(Basic General Education and INU Core General Education) Credits
- Entrants up to AY 2015
- Minimum 6 credits: Korean (1 course), English (4 credits or more)
- Entrants in AY 2016 (including transfer students admitted in AY 2016)
- Minimum 6 credits: Korean (2 credits), English (College English or Academic English, 2 credits or more), English Conversation (2 credits)
- Entrants in AY 2017–2018 (including transfer students admitted in AY 2017–2018)
- Minimum 6–12 credits: Korean (2 credits), English (College English or Academic English, 2 credits or more), English Conversation (2 credits), College Mathematics (6 credits for Natural Sciences & Engineering majors)
- Entrants in AY 2019–2022 (including transfer students admitted in AY 2019–2022)
- Minimum 8–14 credits: Korean (2 credits), English (College English or Academic English, 2 credits), English Conversation (2 credits), Software (2 credits for applicable departments), College Mathematics (6 credits for Natural Sciences & Engineering majors)
- Must complete at least 3 courses from the 6 INU Core Education areas, regardless of the area (courses completed up to AY 2022 count toward this requirement; duplicate areas allowed).
- Entrants from AY 2023 onward (including transfer students admitted from AY 2023 onward)
- Basic General Education (8–14 credits or more): Writing: Theory and practice of Writing (2 credits), Academic English (2 credits), College English Conversation (2 credits), Computational Thinking and SW (2 credits for applicable departments), College Mathematics (6 credits for Natural Sciences & Engineering majors)
- Must complete at least 3 courses from the 6 Core Education areas, regardless of the area
- Entrants from AY 2026 onward (including transfer students admitted from AY 2026 onward)
- Basic General Education (10–16 credits or more): Writing: Theory of Practice of Writing in the Age of AI (2 credits), Academic English (2 credits), AI Thinking and Data Literacy (2 credits for applicable departments), Human Centered Ethics in AI (2 credits), College English Conversation 1 & 2 (2 credits), College Mathematics (6 credits for Natural Sciences & Engineering majors)
- Must complete at least 3 courses from the 6 Core Education areas, regardless of the area
Please check the academic announcement on the General Education Curriculum for departments/schools required to take AI Thinking and Data Literacy (Computational Thinking and SW) and College Mathematics (1) & (2).
Students entering in Academic Year 2008 and later must check the restricted/prohibited courses by department/school (credits for these courses will not count toward graduation).
Major Graduation Credits
- Entrants up to AY 2009 : Must complete 51 credits or more
- Entrants from AY 2010 onward : Engineering: 72 credits or more, Natural Sciences: 63 credits or more, Others: 60 credits or more
- (Exception: Dept. of Fashion Industry and Dept. of Consumer & Child Studies under Natural Sciences require 60 credits or more)
- Entrants from AY 2023 onward : Engineering: 72 credits or more, Natural Sciences: 63 credits or more, Others: 60 credits or more
- (Exceptions: Dept. of Materials Science & Engineering and Dept. of Energy & Chemical Engineering require 60 credits or more; Dept. of Environmental Engineering require 66 credits or more)
- (Exception: Dept. of Fashion Industry requires 60 credits or more)
- Double Major Students: Must complete at least 42 credits in each of the two majors.
- Minor Students: Must complete at least 60 credits in the primary major and at least 21 credits in the minor

Guidance for Students Who Fail the Graduation Review
- For students who have completed all required coursework but failed the graduation review, no further registration is required. They may apply for graduation after fulfilling all graduation requirements
- For students who must continue their studies after failing the graduation review
- Students who wish to take courses must register for courses and pay tuition on a per-credit basis in accordance with Article 12, Paragraph 2 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Academic Rules
- Students who do not wish to take courses must apply for a leave of absence. Failure to either register or apply for a leave of absence may result in dismissal due to non-registration
Types of Graduation Requirements and Passing Criteria
- Graduation Thesis, Laboratory/Practical Work, and Performance Presentation : Grade D or higher
- Comprehensive Graduation Examination : A score of at least 60% of the total possible points
Course Completion
Course completion status is granted based on the required completion credits for each academic year, and a Certificate of Course Completion is issued at the end of the semester.

Early Graduation
- Eligibility : Students with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher through the second semester of their second year (4 semesters completed)
- Application Period : During the designated period before the start of the first semester of the third year (5th semester). Please refer to the academic calendar.
- How to Apply : Apply online through the portal (Portal /Integrated Information System/Graduation/Early Graduation Application)
- Graduation Requirements : Early graduation may be granted to students who complete all graduation requirements within 6 or 7 semesters and have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher.
