Double major
- Students must have completed at least 42 credits in each major and double major.
If you are double majoring with another department, please check each department's Liberal Arts restricted courses.
The French language 1 and 2 classes are restricted for students double majoring in French and Literature.
Minor
- A minimum of 21 credits must be completed, including 9 credits of the minor requirements: Introduction to French Literature, French Grammar and Composition 1, and French on Intermediate Level.
Thesis
Students admitted before 2016: Thesis
Submit the thesis in the 1st or 2nd semester of the 4th year, and details will be posted on the department's website in that semester.
Students admitted after 2017: Thesis or Graduation Examination
The revised graduation requirements for graduation exams and thesis will be effective for students enrolled after 2017.
(Minor and double major students will also have the same requirements from 2017)
Graduation thesis ※ Modifications will be effective from January 2024.
- In principle, students are assigned a thesis advisor during the 7th semester. They can begin writing and receiving guidance from the 7th semester.
The thesis must be completed before the end of the 7th semester and evaluated during the 8th semester.
(Even if graduation is postponed, the thesis must be completed before the end of the 7th semester). - Thesis Writing Special Seminar: Students who plan to submit a thesis must attend a seminar during their 3rd and 4th years.
(Mandatory from 2017, recommended for previous students)
Graduation Examination
- Eligibility: Students who have obtained DELF B1 or higher before the start of the 7th semester
- Requirements: 60 out of 100 points in the graduation examination

- Alternative Qualification (English Graduation Qualification Program)

Suppose you have taken at least 2 certified English tests within the last 2 years but have yet to obtain the above qualifications. In that case, you can take more than 96 hours of English special classes organized and operated by the Foreign Language Education Center and pass the designated test.
However, in the case of special admission due to the integration with Incheon College, those who have taken at least 1 certified English test, but have not obtained the above qualifications, can take more than 48 hours of English special classes organized and operated by the Foreign Language Education Center and pass the designated test.

If you want to apply for an exception, please apply at least 30 days before your graduation date. Integrated Information System > Academic Administration > Graduation > English Certification Management > English Graduation Qualification Application > [Foreign Language Qualification Category] : Select and enter the applicable exception (employment, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc.) and wait for department approval.

Completion, Retention, Deferred Graduation
Retention (After 8 semesters)
- Failure to complete the prescribed curriculum (insufficient graduation credits, not completing major requirements, etc.)
- Students who have not fulfilled the graduation requirements for double (linked) majors or teaching certificates.

- Students who have completed the curriculum, but have failed their thesis or have not received English graduation qualification.

- Students who have met all graduation requirements and credits for graduation but wish to continue their status as a student.

Graduation application for the Dept. of French Language & Literature
Students planning to graduate must meet the qualifications (credits, thesis (exam), English Graduation Qualification) and submit the graduation application by the deadline.
- February graduation: Submit by January 5
- August graduation: Submit by July 5
