Architectural engineering major
Career opportunities after graduation
Beginning with the first 22 graduates in February 1983, major of architectural engineering has produced an average of 40 graduates every year. They are working at construction companies, architectural engineering firms, architectural equipment and engineering firms, government agencies and local governments, public institutes and universities. Among them, about 60 graduates continued to study to obtain Ph. D. and 20 of them are working as professors at universities to train junior scholars. In addition, over 110 architects or engineers are working as CEOs of enterprises to have central roles of the architecture industry.
Prospect and vision
The recent environmental change of the construction market caused us to move forward from the existing construction technologies. The business field is now requiring to have advanced construction technologies such as low energy consuming eco‐friendly architectural design technology for climate change, construction cost reduction and risk management technology by advanced construction management technique and earthquake and wind resistant design technology to prevent damage of human life and property.
Major of architectural engineering is fostering professionals with international level of competitiveness who can lead the highly specialized area through more specialized program, enhancement of field education, and cooperative researches of industry and INU. Moreover, we are aiming to provide more systematic and verified engineering education by continuous quality improvement engineering education system regulated by the new certificate standard (KEC2015) of Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK).
Major of Architecture and Urban Design
Our graduates can pave their career in nationally and internationally renowned architecture design firms, government owned-corporations, government agencies, research institutes, construction companies, and many related fields with the interdisciplinary education fused from architectural theory, architectural history, urban design, various architectural technologies and humanities taught and advised from our outstanding faculty members.

- We are pursuing architecture design education accreditation based on quality-based evaluation of education program, international architectural education standards, and mutual recognition outputs for our students to be eligible to practice architectural design overseas with a professional licensure.
Urban design major
Our Graduates focusing on Urban Design can work at public and private sectors. Public field includes public entities or cooperations such as Korea Land and Housing Corporation and Korea Expressway Corporation, and research centers of Architecture and Urban Research Institute(AURI), Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements(KRIHS), Korea Transport Institute(KTI), Seoul Institute, Korea Institute of Construction Technology, Korea Research Institute for Local Administration and research institute of 16 metropolitan councils. Private field includes urban engineering firms, construction and environment firms, architecture design offices and real estate consultation firms. Related professional certificates and national examinations include Urban Planning Professional Engineer, Qualified Architect, Certified Public Appraiser and Higher National Certificate. Also, students can learn more in‐depth by entering graduate schools or advanced courses.
Prospect and vision
The value of urban design is more and more being enhanced in the world. This is happening because as the quality of life is being improved, the social demand on design is not only restricted within the architectural boundary but is shown as the demand on integrated design of construction and urban space.
At the same time, the importance of urban design and the demand on urban designers are increasing. Urban design is expecting development as a practical field of business for integrated design by overcoming the binary sight of construction and a modern city.
