Educational objectives
We aim to foster 21st-century Japanese regional experts who can understand Japan comprehensively and in-depth. This is achieved through integrated and interdisciplinary education and research on Japanese language, literature, history, geography, culture, and society.
Regulations of the Department
- There are 2 majors in this department: Japanese Language and Literature and Japanese Studies.
- Students in this department must choose an advisor according to their major after completing the first semester and before the second semester.
- Students in this department must complete at least 24 credits in each major field, and the advisor must approve the selection of major courses.
- Students in this department must obtain the approval of their advisor to take the comprehensive examination after receiving the required credits.
- Students who transferred to this department from another major must complete the prerequisite courses.
However, similar courses already completed at the previous university may be waived in consultation with the department's advisor and dean. - The comprehensive examination for the Master's and Ph.D. programs shall consist of 2 major subjects.
