Overview of the Exchange (Visiting) Student Program
What is the exchange student program?
- A program in which students can study for a specific time (1 semester or 1 year) at a foreign university that has signed an exchange agreement with INU and obtain credits at INU.
- Students can learn a foreign language, culture, etc., at a foreign university without taking a leave of absence.
- Tuition at the foreign university will be waived (only pay INU tuition).
What is the visiting student program?
- A program that students pay tuition to both INU and a foreign university.
- Students can learn foreign languages and cultures without taking a leave of absence and receive the credits as exchange students.
- Students can apply and be dispatched even if their language proficiency needs to be improved compared to exchange students.
- Tuition at foreign universities will be discounted (in-state tuition), and INU will provide additional financial support for dispatch.

Number of students and schedule
Annual Estimated Number of Students
- China, Taiwan: Around 60
- USA, UK, Canada: Around 70
- Europe, Latin America: Around 80
- Japan: Around 60
- Southeast Asia: Around 5
The number of students selected annually may vary depending on the circumstances of the sister university.

When to Dispatch
- Dispatch period: Every semester (March, September)
Recognition of Credits
- The two universities will transfer students at the 4-year college, university level, or equivalent and mutually recognize and issue transcripts for the credits earned.
- Acquisition of Credits
- Credits can be accepted within the range of credits per semester, but on average, students studying abroad usually take 12 to 15 credits
- If you wish to have the credits recognized as a major, it may be possible with the consent of the dean, and if not, it may be accepted as general electives.
Qualifications to apply as an exchange or visiting student
- Students who have completed at least 2 semesters at the time of application
※ For transfer students, students who have completed at least 1 semester at Incheon National University - Students with an average GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Students with qualities and values to represent Incheon National University
- Students who will remain at Incheon National University for at least one semester after the end of the program.
※ Suppose you are studying at a foreign university for the 8th semester. In that case, you must submit a graduation pledge before your placement and study for at least one semester (9th semester) at INU after your program ends. A leave of absence will not be allowed. - Students with the permission of the department (department, major)
※ The department (division) head or advisor must be confirmed in the exchange student application form. - Students with the required language proficiency required by the partner university
Students from the Division of Northeast Asian International Trade and Logistics students will be restricted from applying to some countries (ex., Japanese Trade Major students cannot apply to Japanese universities).
Application Documents
- 1 copy of the application form (with photo) and foreign language transcripts (if applicable).

- March, September every year
Selection Criteria
- Academic performance (100 points) Language proficiency (100 points) Interview (100 points). The above factors will be combined (out of 300 points) and selected in order of high scores.
Note to students
- Consider whether the exchange will interfere with graduation requirements (graduation credits, required courses, graduation certificates, thesis, etc.).
- Students on leave of absence are eligible to apply but must remain enrolled in the university for the duration of the program.
- Students cannot apply for more than one language
- We may not select applicants if there are no qualified applicants after the interview and screening process.
- After the selection process, the successful student will be recommended to the foreign university, and the final dispatch may be canceled if there is a problem with the local situation of the foreign university or visa issuance.
- Documents submitted will not be returned.
