Incheon National University's K-CAST Signs MOU with Eurasia21

● Cooperation on exchanging science and technology information and conducting joint research in Central Asia

● Promotion of systematic collaboration for mutual capacity building and S&T ecosystem development

The Korea-Central Asia Science and Technology (K-CAST) Center, under the Global Institute for Environmental Convergence Technology (Director Heekwan Lee, Professor of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Incheon National University), announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Eurasia21 (President Sung Wonyong) on June 4, 2026.

This MOU was established to promote science and technology development in Central Asia and to enhance mutual interests based on an equal partnership. The core objective is to systematically drive diverse collaborative activities, including interchange, research, and commercialization in the Central Asian S&T sector.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will actively cooperate on △ Exchanging S&T-related information in Central Asia △ Jointly hosting and operating related seminars and symposiums △ Conducting joint research in relevant fields.

Furthermore, to ensure the smooth execution of these collaborative projects, both parties plan to designate working-level representatives to regularly share progress. They also agreed to hold a joint council at least once a year to review project status and discuss detailed future plans.

Director Lee Heekwan stated, “Eurasia21's deep understanding and extensive network in the Central Asian region could potentially serve as a solid foundation for stably and systematically advancing our center's S&T cooperation projects. Rather than seeing this agreement as a mere formality, we will generate tangible results by continuously discovering local demands.”

President Sung Wonyong emphasized, "We are not stopping at a formal MOU signing; practical cooperation is already underway, such as the planning of an upcoming joint seminar. By fostering close collaboration between regional experts in politics and economics and S&T researchers, we will significantly contribute to economic and industrial cooperation between Korea and Central Asia."
