2026 Global Hope Completion Project Science Outreach Booths

Eight science outreach experience booths combined with the Squid Game-inspired “Incheon Imagination Game”…

Participants applaud the creative planning and fresh changes brought by the i-RISE project

“I came with my son to the science outreach booth event hosted by the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon. There were so many fun and fascinating programs that we lost track of time trying them one by one. My son was especially interested in the ‘Car Soccer’ booth, while I found the ‘Lithospermum Hand Cream’ booth very impressive. Incheon National University’s facilities are also pleasant, welcoming, and excellent. I will strongly recommend that my son and his friends apply to Incheon National University.”

As the Spring 2026 semester was gradually coming to a close, 101 multicultural family members living in the region visited the main auditorium of Incheon National University over the weekend. Families participated in “A Meeting of History and Science for Multicultural Families,” the fifth program of the 2026 Global Hope Completion Project, organized by the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon and the INU RISE Project Group.

A wide range of booths—including Car Soccer, Ceramic Keyrings, Drone Missions, Marine Upcycling, Optical Illusion Spinning Discs, Lithospermum Hand Cream, LED Cheongsachorong Lanterns, and Mother-of-Pearl Keyrings—captured the curiosity and attention of participants.

Multicultural families first learned about the basic overview of each booth, the principles of everyday science, and related historical background before joining hands-on activities according to their interests. Parents and children became fully immersed in the combination of science and history, with smiles filling the venue. Families who completed all eight booths celebrated their achievement and took commemorative photos.

This program was organized by the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon and the INU RISE Project Group. It provided science-related activities for participants and included programs designed to help young students explore future learning interests.

In particular, the Incheon Love Movement Center and the Incheon Love Movement Citizens’ Council, which have been joining efforts to support the establishment of a public medical school at Incheon National University, collaborated on the day’s event by operating the Squid Game-inspired “Incheon Imagination Game,” drawing both curiosity and enthusiastic responses from participants.

The “Incheon Imagination Game,” prepared to help multicultural families naturally develop interest in Incheon through traditional games such as jegichagi, biseokchigi, and gonggi, drew long lines of participants. In one memorable moment, when a child struggled with jegichagi, his father stepped in to help, only to quickly face defeat and retreat with laughter.

At the photo zone where participants could wear the actual “masked soldier” costume inspired by Squid Game, young students eagerly posed for photos, creating joyful memories.

The Yeonsu-gu Family Center, which joined the event with multicultural families, said, “Each i-RISE program prepared by Incheon National University to accompany overseas Koreans and multicultural families clearly shows thoughtful planning and strong content.” The center added, “Participants have responded with applause at every program, and growing interest and affection for Incheon National University are even leading to inquiries about children’s admission.”

Ki-soon Han, Director of the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon, who planned the event, stated, “I am grateful for the enthusiastic response and applause from participants at this meaningful event prepared for overseas Koreans and multicultural families in the Incheon region.” She added, “We will continue taking the lead in social contribution activities so that everyday science can reach local residents at their level without leaving anyone behind.”

Hong Jin-bae, Vice President for International Affairs at Incheon National University, stated, “I am grateful to the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon for splendidly completing the fifth program of the 2026 Global Hope Completion Project.” He added, “The INU RISE Project Group and the Office of External Relations will continue to operate the i-RISE project with substance, leading universities to address regional issues and creating fresh changes so that overseas Koreans, multicultural families, and international students can coexist.”
