Students from Incheon National University's Department of German Language & Literature won the gold prize in the thesis category and the bronze prize in the UCC category at the "2024 National University Student Small Paper and Video Content Contest," hosted by the Korean Society of German Literature, continuing the tradition of the award this year.
Blickum Blick is a regular annual event for high school and college students by the Korean Association of German Literature to expand interest and base in German literature and to foster the next generation of academics. This year's award ceremony was held at Chung-Ang University on Dec. 7 (Saturday).
In the college student's small thesis section, which is the theme of "Technology Development and Human Life," third-year student Cho Dong-min won the gold prize by presenting academic writing based on accurate understanding of work and logical analysis with his thesis titled "Self-preservation and Instrumental Reason in Homo Farber from the perspective of Enlightenment Dialect".
In the video content (UCC) category under the theme of "Germany's Digital Technology and AI Utilization Ethics," third-year student Park Yoon-jung, second-year student Byun Jin-ho, and Bae Kang-min won the bronze medal with a video titled "AI and Human Accompanied – On Unchanging Values." Professor Bae Ji-jung of the Department of German Language & Literature, who led the students, said, "I am very proud of the creativity and academic enthusiasm shown by the students of the Department of Reading and Literature at Incheon National University. I hope this award will serve as an opportunity to publicize the value and possibility of German literature," encouraging the students' efforts and achievements.
