"When I entered university, I wanted to study my major hard, participate in MT and university festivals, and do rural volunteer work, but I am so satisfied and happy to achieve my bucket list this time."
About 30 students from Incheon National University's law department conducted "2024 Summer Rural Volunteer Service" in Dusil Village, Myeongho-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, for a three-day schedule from July 30 (Tue) to August 1 (Thu).
This program was independently planned and operated by the Incheon National University Law Students' Association, and the purpose of continuing a strong relationship with students during summer vacation and doing meaningful things at the same time was embodied. Kang Min-seok, president of Incheon National University's law student council, said, "This summer's rural volunteer work was his pledge to run for president of the student council," adding, "It seems that law schoolers have contributed as members of society through rural volunteer work, and have precious memories and rewards in school days."
In Dusil Village, Myeongho-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where rural volunteer activities were conducted, Incheon National University law students revitalized the village with only the elderly by harvesting cucumber crops and cleaning the village.
Kim Tae-young, a law student at Incheon National University who attended the volunteer work, said, "It was hot and difficult while sweating with my seniors and juniors in a rural area, but I think the proud reward and good influence is a privilege that only young people who cannot buy with money can enjoy."
A resident of Dusil Village in Myeongho-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, where rural volunteer activities were conducted, said, "Young students visited the village and helped with their work, so they were grateful to revitalize the rural area."
Like Ahn Chi-hwan's song "Youth," "Our small and warm hands become the salt of our neighbors and the light of love where our strong flags are fluttering...," Incheon National University law students who are interested in and practice social contribution activities, including rural volunteer activities this summer and briquettes volunteer activities in the fall, are the true "youth" of this era.
