KLI Program Overview

    Follow your dream at INUKLI, Open window for the future!!

⊙ Incheon National University Korean Language Program is for students with beginners' level to advanced  level in Korean.
⊙ This program is a year-round program consisting of four terms. Each term is 10 weeks long, with a total of 200  instructional hours. Each term provides various Korean cultural programs for students.
⊙ Lessons are conducted by experienced lecturers with M.A. or Ph.D. degrees in the area of Korean language  teaching for foreigners. In addition, they also speak various foreign languages and help students understand  and  communicate with the students from diverse national backgrounds. 

  *Our goals are
 - To provide international students high-quality lessons for enhancing proficiency in Korean language and  understanding of Korean culture.
 - To help students prepare receiving higher education in Korean universities(undergraduate/graduate).
   ▶ 4 terms (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter)
   ▶ Monday to Friday (5 days a week) / 09:00 ~ 12:50(4 hours a day). 200 hours per term.
   ▶ 10 weeks and 200 instructional hours per term.

Academics 

PlacementA new student’s placement is based on the result of the placement test provided by INUKLI. Your test score determines your level of Korean proficiency and it is used to place students into appropriate INUKLI language courses. Class Size is 15 students per class. 
Levels6 Levels (Beginners Level 1 ~ Advanced Level 6)
Completion▶ Average Grade 60 points or above with attendance 80 % or above
At the end of the program, the INUKLI issues a Certificate of Completion to students who have attended class regularly and have received passing grades. Grades are based on mid-term(40%), final exams(40%), attendance, and homework / participation(20%). An average score of 60 or above is required to promote to a higher level. Subjects of examination are Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking. The re-test will be conducted when grade scores are below 60 in two subjects. However, grades below 60 in three or more subjects means that you should do the same class again.
Attendance"80% or more Policy" is applied for both the course completion & visa extension.
Students should attend at least 80% (160 hours/200 hours) of the classes in order to pass or to extend Visa. Three tardies will count as one absence.

※ Those reside in Korea with appropriate visas like F-2, F-4, E-2, C-3, D-4, etc. can apply for the course by one week before class begins. To secure your  registration, please apply as soon as possible, since space is limited.
※ For overseas students who want D-4 visa should apply at least 2 terms(6 months).
   (Students from Mongolia, Myanmar, and Uzbekistan, etc. need to apply more than 4 terms(1 year))

BeginnerLevel 1
1. Level 1 is designed for beginners with little knowledge of the Korean language. Students will understand and speak basic Korean sentences by learning intermediate level grammar and expressions.
2. T
his course will cover basic expressions useful for everyday life, such as greeting, introducing, ordering food and making purchases, introducing themselves, buying stuff, calling, using public transportation, etc.
3. Through this course, students will be able to speak in various basic situations and move on to learn basic grammar, dialogue patterns, and cultural traits so that they will be able to read and write on easy topics.
Higher
Beginner
Level 2
1. Students will understand and speak about topics related to daily life such as restaurants, post office, banks, and stores.
2. This course will focus on conversing in more advanced sentences related to family, hobbies, traveling, transportation, personal feelings, and experiences.
3. Reading and understanding simple broadcasts and memos based on daily life.
4. Filling out simple 
forms and that may be required in daily life; also included is how to write simple daily journals
IntermediateLevel 3
1. Students will learn how to explain, describe, compare, and deliver topics, and through these acquired skills will create short paragraphs.
2. Understand and create simple paragraphs about familiar social topics such as occupation, daily work life, daily school life, personality, shape, and different events.
3. Be able to generally understand the content of weather forecasts and advertisements, information announcements, and newspaper articles. 4. Learn proverbs and other idiomatic expressions that are used frequently in daily life. Also included is learning about the main representative Korean holidays and customs.
Higher IntermediateLevel 4
1. Students will distinguish the differences between spoken Korean and written Korean language.
2. Understanding Korean history, mindset, and culture though focusing on learning
routine vocabulary and Chinese character based vocabulary.
3. Learn how to create and understand the writing of currents events, culture,
customs, the environment, product consumption, social and imaginary subjects.
4. Through this course students will learn how to read basic essays, literature,
and news articles.
5. This course also focuses on methods on how to communicate in the workplace in a more formal way. They will also learn how to deal with completing basic tasks in Korean.
AdvancedLevel 5
1. Through this course, students will learn how to speak and write through using appropriate expressions in a variety of both official and non-official settings.
2. 
This course also covers various fields of politics, economics, society, and culture.
3. Core topics covered in this course are summarizing texts, listening to lectures while taking notes, discussing, doing presentations and other such requirements for college education. Students also practice business briefing and creating business reports.
4. This course also widens the students knowledge of Korean politics, economics, history, and culture.
Higher AdvancedLevel 6
1. Students will focus on learning how to fully understand the contents and language function needed at colleges(or graduate schools) and daily works.
2. Learning about the contents; logical writings, news articles, dissertations, literature, specialized books and broadcast in detail.
3. Enhancing your knowledge of advanced Korean vocabulary through specialized materials including Korean society and culture, and understanding the way Koreans think. 4. Students will be trained how to speak and write in a natural way just like a native Korean speaker.
