Greetings
The Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia looks to
the future and leads the way.

The school looks to become an institute that is recognized for specializing
in fostering logistics and lifelong education.

Greetings. Last summer was incredibly hot. But I'm sure it was a meaningful time for you. Now it's time to go back to where we belong and develop our knowledge in logistics, that is demanded by the nation and the times.

Just as knowledge based businesses become the best, only those nations that manage knowledge as the best resource can maintain their competitive edge. Fostering logistics experts with new knowledge is a prerequisite to becoming a logistics hub nation. So fostering of competent logistics experts is an essential prerequisite for us, since we aspire to become the hub nation for logistics in the Northeast Asia. According to professor Gattorna at University of Sydney, Korea is between developing stage and mature state in the logistics market development stages. At this stage what we need the most are logistics experts. In a survey conducted to find out the most urgent issue at hand for global logistics businesses in the Northeast Asian logistics market, logistics experts was suggested as the most important issue at hand together with softening of complicated logistics regulations.

Singapore, Germany, the UK, and the US have already concluded that the demands for logistics experts will rise steeply in the future, and have set fostering of logistics experts as a national task, since years ago. Compared to these nations, Korea lacks logistics experts, and in order for us to develop into the hub nation for logistics in the Northeast Asia, education institutes that can systematically foster logistics experts must be actively supported.

Logistics hub strategy is the core of the participatory government's "national development strategy to become the economic hub of the Northeast Asia." Fostering logistics experts is also the core of 7 tasks to realize the logistics hub, and a graduate school specializing in logistics is suggested in its contents. Early last year, we placed an application at the Ministry of Education to establish a graduate school specializing in logistics, and have been approved to establish the first graduate school specializing in logistics in Northeast Asia. The Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia looks to the future and leads the way.

The times and the society demands the Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia to have more depth and wider range than existing logistics related special graduate schools or general graduate school courses. We look to become an institute that is recognized for specializing in fostering logistics experts and lifelong education, just like the Logistics Institute-Asia Pacific that the National University of Singapore and Georgia Tech of America jointly established. I have a favor to ask of you. But first, I must say that I'm not perfect, I'm not demanding this from you.

Above all, I would like to ask that you try your best to acquire the most recent expert knowledge that would fit this age of globalization, informatization, and automization. This is because today's logistics experts are required not only to have the latest knowledge related to logistics, but the capability to utilize information and technology.

As a result, I'm sure you will gain a much better capability than us professors. The disciple outstanding the master has always been the goal of education since the past.

It all comes down to an equation of time and effort put in. So, starting from this semester, the goal of us professors at the Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia is to "make them study two times more." I believe we'll reach the goal since everyone sympathizes with the cause.

In a few year's time, there will be hundreds of graduates from the Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia. I trust that we'll strongly position ourselves as a competent logistics expert club that everyone recognizes. We are all co-founders of the Graduate School of Logistics in Northeast Asia. Let us be proud and strive to leave a mark in our society.
