INU organized a experience program to track a history of port opening and followed industrialization. Incheon City History Hall(Former Compact Smart City), Sudoguksan Museum of Housing and Living, Incheon Foundation for Arts and Cultural cooperated to build a program cooperated to form a program.
'Humanity City Incheon, Looks for Wisdom from 100 years of Industrialization' was the slogan of the program. The event will provide a time for citizens to rediscover industrial legacy and value, and to discuss the reclaiming method of the region.
There were two big factors of the program; humanistic lecture and humanistic experience and exploration.
Humanity lecture was composed of 4 themes. First theme is 'reading a industrial city by video and record'. Public cultures such as books and movies were used to figure out the effect of industrialization to the city. Second theme is 'aftermath class beside rail road'. Referring to Gyeongin Line, the theme objected to picture the initial situation of Incheon. Third theme is 'wiggling playground'. It is the theme that children could join, to find out the components of the city. Fourth theme is industrial humanities lecture from Sudoguksan Museum of Housing and Living. The theme covered major industry of pontoon bridge area. Debate on the life history of the local citizens took a place.
Humanity experience and exploration was also composed by four different topics. First, humanities experience in Incheon City History Hall. Elementary school students participated to explore the story of opening a port in Incheon and resulted change in the urban space. Second was humanities exploration in Sudoguksan Museum of Housing and Living. Participants were able to explore and discuss collected life history from local citizens. Third program was called 'My exploration on industrial legacy'. Participants explored Industrial complex in Jung-gu and Dong-gu area to discover the hidden value. Fourth program was 'Exclamation of Discovery'. Voice or video was recorded and edited to rediscover the landscape of Incheon city.
Humanities weekly event began from 30th October. It is its 13th time to be hold. The event objects to proclaim local humanities spirit and to distribute humanities knowledge for mutual understanding. Humanities lecture, performance, exploration and experiences were hold within a motivation to acknowledge co-existing minds.
INU Division of Humanities City(Director Professor Jin-han Park) has already operated the program about 'Original City Center' from 2014 to 2017. The division will operate current program until 2021 within a support from National Research Foundation of Korea.
