Graduate Student Hyun-jin Lee and Mi-bang Kim in a doctor's course of Nano-Bio Engineering(Advisor Myeong-ji Suh) won a prize of excellence in Oral Presentation Sector at 2018 International Meeting of the Federation of Korean Microbiological Societies.

Hyun-jin Lee presented about '1-Deoxynojirimycin from Bacillus methylotrophicus K26: Culture Optimization and Bio-synthetic Analysis' and Mi-bang Kim presented on a topic of 'Increase of Carotenoid Production of Lactobacillus plantarum by Hydrogen Peroxide- and Salt-stress'.

The presentation proved the excellence of microzyme in a traditional fermented food, and suggested possible development as a functional food material. Ms. Lee and Ms. Kim formed a research by separating microzyme from traditional fermented foods, and ended up to analyze functionality and provide possibilities in industrial application.

Besides, Federation of Korean Microbiological Societies(FKMS) was established in 2000, within an intention to improve academia of domestic micro organism field and enhance international competitiveness. The federation includes Korean Society for Microbiology(KSM), Korean Society for Virology(KSV), Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology(KMB), and The Microbiological Society of Korea(MSK).
