Four people of INU including Gab-young Lee, head of the Academy of Chinese Studies, Hyung-jin Cho, professor of Academy of Chines Studies, Chi-young Ahn, professor of Chines Language and Cultural Studies, Nam-hee Kim, and Min-Keun Song researcher of Chines Studies visited Beijing and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region with theme of ‘One belt, One Road’ at the invitation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences for seven days from November 4 to 10.

In Beijing, academic conference was held with theme of ‘One belt, one road’, while at the Xinjiang academic exchanges conducted with the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences and Central Asia Research Institute of Xinjiang and Xinjiang universities and explored key area related to ‘one belt, one road’.

In particular, Gab-young Lee, appraised positively that ‘one belt, one road’ which had been leaning in the western part of Eurasia, is positively changing by the recent expansion of the east part including Korea through the keynote of the joint academic conference, ‘Eurasia’s Economic Interaction and the Core Area of the Silk Road Economy.’ Furthermore, he suggested that enforcement of exchange and cooperation between the two academic institutions so that it can contribute to peace and prosperity on the Korea. 

The Chinese academy and members explored core region of Xinjiang like Khorgos, the border between China and Kazakhstan related to ‘one belt, one road’ and considered the way that it contributes to open the North Korea and bring peace on the Korea. INU plans to select it as a ‘Research Peak’ project led by Chinese Academy of Sciences and establish a cooperate system with Chinese academic institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Yanbian University.
