Our university concluded an agreement with the Korea Institute of Education and Culture (KIEC) located in Jakarta, Indonesia and held a ceremony for the establishment of overseas branches of Korean language schools, which was attended by about 200 people, including the Indonesian Education and Navy Foundation and the five university presidents who signed the agreement for the establishment of the Korean Language Institute.
The KIEC, which established the 6th branch of the school, is expected to join up with five universities including Indonesia's Trisakti University and Bogor University to play a leading role in Korean studies along with the provision of Korean language for students who want to study in Korea.
Before the ceremony, many officials from the Indonesian Education Ministry, the president of five universities, and the Navy foundation attended the seminar to discussed the future and direction of education in Indonesia.
President Cho Dong-sung, who presented at the seminar, received enthusiastic applause from many educational officials, as he revealed that education is the core behind the current rapid economic growth, comparing the economic development of the Korea in past with how Indonesia and developing countries developed, and explaining where it is.
“Today, Indonesia's sixth Korean Language Institute branch ceremony has expanded to five universities that signed the agreement, and now total 11 different branches are established in China, Vietnam and Indonesia” and “The best education offered by the branch schools and universities will be an opportunity to change your future and realize your dreams, and we will work hard to make that dream come true with us.”
In addition to the KIEC Foundation, which held the ceremony, the University of Indonesia, which is preparing agreements and five universities, the University of Trisakti, Bogor University, Yayasan Hangtian University, STMIK Nusa Mandiri University, and BINA University, agreed to hold the signboard hanging ceremony and the opening ceremony in earnest as soon as the construction of the branch school was ready, and started detailed discussions.
Our university hopes to secure educational hubs, including the branch schools around the world, to globalize Korean language education and thus serve as a platform for attracting excellent foreign students.
