International Student Guide

Before Arrival

Housing

Housing contracts in Korea are a bit different from other countries.
Please check the types of housing in Korea below

1) Dormitory

You can stay in our dormitory without paying a deposit. The INU dormitory has spacious rooms for 2,000 students
and it costs $460~760 per semester.

2) Jeonse(Large deposit without monthly payment)

‘Jeonse’ is a distinct rent contract in Korea. You pay a large amount of deposit to the house owner. You don’t pay any
additional monthly rental fee while you stay. When you leave, you get the whole deposit back. You might not be familiar
with ‘Jeonse’ contract but you don’t have to worry about it because you will be covered by the law, Housing Lease Protection Act.
The deposit varies depending on the location and the size of your room/house.

3) Monthly Rent

You pay a smaller deposit than that of ‘Jeonse’ and also pay monthly rent. The more you pay as a deposit, the less you pay
in monthly rent.
The costs can vary according to its location and size of your room/house but the rent is generally $400 per month
and $3,000 ~ $5,000 as a deposit.

4) Student Visa

You can have D-2(student visa) to study at INU and you need a Certificate of Admission from INU for the visa. All newly
admitted international students must be issued a Certificate of Admission. If not, you will not be registered in the Ministry
of Justice as an INU student and will thus receive disadvantages on immigration.
