The College of Life and Sciences and Bioengineering is organized into the School of Life Sciences (Life Sciences major, Molecular Biology major) and the School of Bioengineering (Bioengineering major, Nano-Bio major).

Life Science is not only basic academic field that explores the secrets of life and humans, but also develops the vast knowledge gained from such exploration into advanced scientific technology for the welfare and health of the humankind. Recently, human and environmentally friendly life science industries have developed as the main industry of the 21st century all over the world. Also, industries related to life science have evolved dramatically in Korea and the demand for professionals and specialists in life science has increased significantly; thus, the future of professionals who have majored in life science are very bright.
The professors of the department conduct research in various methods on the systems manifesting phenomenon of life from cells, microorganism to animals and plants. They study the mechanism of the function and phenomenon of life resources in different levels such as cells and molecules, biology, genetics, physiology, taxonomy, ecology etc.
The major of molecular and medical science discovers and fosters scientists who will contribute to the academic development of basic medical science by cultivating scientific thoughts and creative research power. Furthermore, we nurture refined workforce who will lead a scientific life with rational thoughts and perform as leaders in the medical field. Newly established within the division of life science in 2010, the major of basic medicine converted to the major of molecular and medical science and recruits new students since 2012. We plan to produce professional workforce through the education of medical and scientific convergence technology such as molecular biologic technique and genetic engineering technology that study, develop and apply new substances and techniques utilized in the diagnosis, treatment and research of diseases.
