Introduction
With INU's transfer from the engineering school to the college on October 2, 1980 and the subsequent approval for the establishment of the Dept. of Arts, the Division of Design enrolled its first students in 1981. Since then, three majors have been managed under the Division of Arts: Korean Painting, Western Painting, and Design. In March of 2010, the Division was reorganized into the Division of Design and, true to its name, the Division is taking its place as a center for advanced design in Northeast Asia.
The rapidly developing, knowledge-based society of the 21st century is demanding unprecedentedly innovative design strategies from today's professionals. The Division of Design is rising to this demand through a broad, diverse, yet balanced education system, and the cultivation of design experts with creative, forward-thinking ability who can logically solve today's design problems.
The Division is dedicated to the innovation of design policies which will advance local industry and economy, a design education system which utilizes cutting-edge media technology, expanded international exchange in design, the pioneering of new design concepts and theories, and the promotion of diverse experience in a wide range of design fields, including visual design, image design, package design, illustration, animation, digital content, 3D design, and manufacturing design.
